Been A While (Or Back To Blogging?)

It’s been a while. Over a year and a bit since my last post. I’ll Facebook for that. In a world where everything becoming instant – instant coffee, instant noodles, Google’s instant search – writing a short status message is probably the closest you can get to instant blogging. Like instant coffee, there’s no need to percolate. Status messages were instant gratification. The only problem with Facebook is that it’s a public forum. You can’t just slag off people because it’s highly likely that it’s going to get back to them. Let me tell you that I have some obscure references in my status messages – from song titles to movie quotes – in order to avoid getting in trouble at work.

One major change since my last post is that my blithering idiot of a boss quit. He found a higher paying job at a bigger company. That change brought about a significant improvement in my work environment. Though I am still on the look out for better opportunities, it is no longer a matter of life or sanity. I am also connecting better with my co-workers probably because, their impression of me is no longer through the filter of my ex-boss’ jackassery. Yeah, that’s a word. Google it.

A couple of months after ex-boss left, new boss arrived. He sort of leaves me alone to go about the regular stuff that needs to get done. Get my opinions on the best way to get the information he needs. We have zero roundabout discussions – I get the answer to question I ask without equivocation. He is also definitely better at directing the decisions of our co-workers to getting better outcomes. He tells me not to stay late if there’s no need and doesn’t care what hours I work as long I deliver. Plus he’s fun – he has actually been thrown out of a club once. He says he wasn’t actually thrown out but rather politely asked to leave because it was a high end club. He’s the complete opposite of my ex-boss. In other words, I like new boss.
